The levels of IgG antibody binding to the soluble antigens of Mycobacterium bovis BCG in sera from patients with tuberculosis and healthy individuals in Korea were measured by the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The most reactive antigenic components with homologous goat hyperimmune serum distributed in the fraction, which was extracted from live BCG cells homogenized by French-press at 15,000 psi and was precipitable at 75% saturation of ammonium sulfate. Thirty eight (79.2) out of 48 sputum positive patients and 23 (45.1%) out of 51 sputum negative but radiologically suspected cases showed a positive reaction at the serum dilution 1£º400, at which none of 24 healthy individuals showed a positive reaction. At a serum dilution 1£º3,200, 29.2% of sputum positive patients shoved a positive reaction while 11.8% of sputum negative cases showed a positive reaction. Of 13 smear negative culture positive case3, 10 were positive at the serum dilution 1£º400. Fifteen of 24 healthy individuals were positive at the serum dilution 1£º50, 6 at 1£º100, and 1 at 1£º200.
